What, it's Friday already!?!

Gosh, Friday really snuck up on me this week.  I've got so many fun projects in the works but we haven't had any sun here all week and taking a good photo in this dreary light is a lost cause.
However, I have a card here that got passed up for submission last month and I forgot to post it so here it is!
This was the first time I have ever submitted and I think I submitted 6 cards total, none got picked but it's a learning process and I will just keep trying!
Supplies used:
Unity Stamp Co: Hey Stud Itty Bitty
Echo Park Happy Days PP
Marvy brush markers
Other:  Brads, corner rounder, adhesive foam, paper distresser

Lots of excitement going on over at the Unity Stamp Co blog right now!!!  Check out all of the awesome new releases and all of the other amazingly talented crafters and their creations this week here!

Sweet Kind Nice Wonderful

Friday, where have you been all week!?!  TGIF and FWF!  Just a quick post this week with a card I threw together super quick yesterday when both kids were napping at once...oh wait, scratch that...when my little guy was napping and his toddler sister was having "quiet" time in her room instead of napping and doing her very best to wake him up too.  No naps from a tempermental 2 1/2 year old ALL week make for one VERY long week!

Authentique PP
Unity stamps:  January 2012 KOM

You and me, my boy.

It's Friday and it's snowing!!!  It's really kind of a pathetic dusting but I think it's only the 3rd time we've gotten snow this winter so I've got my fingers crossed that we'll get enough to be able to take the kids snowing.
I've got a couple of projects to share today for Friends with Flair.  Head on over to Unity's blog to see the list of participants this week and leave some comments on their projects for a chance to win some amazing stamps!
First up today I have a layout I created this week using Crate Paper and some Unity SMAK stamps.  I am not a SMAK club member but I had a great discount coupon a few weeks back and used it on this kit from November 2011 and I'm telling you I LOVE IT!!!  So versatile, I really wish I could afford to be a SMAK member because these kits are AWESOME for scrapbooking!

All of the papers and embellishments are Crate Paper aside from some felt stars that I had laying around.  I used glossy accents on the stickers and stamp that I used in the middle of the stars.  The border punch is Fiskars.
The next project is a card that I made a few weeks back and forgot to post.
Supplies used:
Kraft cardstock
Crate Paper Random collection
Unity stamps:  Carnivale Alpha, Distressed Dots
Inks:  Ranger/Tim Holtz, Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass, Mustard Seed, Victorian Velvet, Faded Jeans
Border punch: Martha Stewart
Inspired by a card in Paper Crafts mag

Thanks for stopping by my blog, wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead!

Spring?

It was almost 60 degrees here in Michigan this past Friday and my boy and I weren't just going to sit by and let a beautiful day pass us by!  Outside we went for a stroll around the neighborhood.  Of course he fell asleep after about 5 minutes and so I walked until he woke up about an hour later.  :)  It was wonderful!  Peaceful, relaxing, invigorating walk with the sunshine on my face and the sounds of children playing in the neighborhood.  I had the camera with me and of course I snapped off a few shots and scrapped them yesterday.

The papers, stickers and embellishments are all Sassafras Lass.
The stamps are from Unity Stamp Co. (Feb 2010 and Oct 2010 Kit of the Month's)
Other: Button, twine, adhesive foam dots.
The design is based off of a sketch from the Got Sketch blog.

All Bundled Up

One of my new years resolutions is to scrapbook more.  I have a goal of one page a week or 4 a month.  That's not a lot by any means so I am hoping that I can keep up with it.  Today I was able to find a few hours in the afternoon to get a layout done from last January when we took our daughter sledding for the first time.
I usually don't like my 2 page layouts but I think this one turned out okay.  It was a pretty quick LO to put together aside from the time it took to stamp the snowflake background stamp on the Kraft paper.  I must've stamped it 30 times! After I took these pics I did notice a typo that I need to go back and fix in the journaling.  It says January 2010 but it was really January 2011, just a small typo but kind of a big difference!

These little brrr acrylic pieces have been hanging out in my stash since I first started buying scrapbook stuff and I had no clue how I was ever going to use them but they came in handy here and I am happy to have one less thing in my stash of unused product.
Scrapping these pics really made me wish for some snow to take both kids sledding this year.  It's January in Michigan and sadly we're having a heat wave with no snow in the 10 day forecast.  Fingers crossed that I'll be able to take the kids sledding at least once this year!

Supplies:
Cosmo Cricket Jolly By Golly papers, ribbon and chipboard.
Unity Stamp Co snowflake background stamp from Nov 2011 Kit of the Month
Snowflakes: K & Company
Brrr blocks: Unknown
Inks:  Versamark; Worn Lipstick by Ranger
Sled Rub-on: Basic Grey
Other: buttons, twine, brads

2012 Memory Jar

Happy Friday, happy Friends with Flair and HAPPY 2012!!!  To see all of the other awesome Unity FWF creations stop by Unity's blog and hop along.  Remember to leave comments along the way for a chance to win some stamps!  For all of you Unity peeps out there I have a great little project for today to kick off 2012.
In September I came across a great idea that I implemented immediately. It was a Memory Jar. We started writing little things from the everyday (funny, silly, sweet, cute, happy) moments of our day that might otherwise be forgotten. The idea was to pull the jar out on NYE and reflect and reminisce on the previous year. We had a really busy NYE but pulled the jar out a couple of days later and had a great time reading through our memories from the past few months over breakfast!
I had plans to make a cute decorated jar for our memories but didn't get around to it until yesterday.  Before that we were just throwing them in an empty tin.  Whatever works right.  I have to say though that I like this jar MUCH better!

I got the jar at Hobby Lobby (it was $5 and on sale for 50% off so I only paid $2.50 for it)!  The patterned papers I used are all My Mind's Eye.  I stamped the Happy Memories stamp over and over across the blue PP.  Love that stamp from the Nov 2011 SMAK kit!  I used a Fiskars punch to punch a border from the rainbow PP.  Some random green velvet ribbon finished off the main part of the jar.  I stamped the jar from the Dec 2011 KOM onto script PP (using this was a no brainer since the jar will be filled with written memories).  I cut a small strip of rainbow PP to put over the jar stamp and popped the Filled with Love up from that and attached it to the lid with twine and a jump ring.  The lid also has a Unity stamp on there.  It's a cute Itty Bitty from Bella Blvd called Tell Me More.  I used little alpha stickers from Echo Park on the quote stamp and popped it up from the lid and Mod Podged it.  I wrapped some ribbon and twine around the lid and added a punched flower and a button and used that to attach the jar that hangs from the lid.
With 2 young children and with as little sleep as I get I LOVE having this jar to toss a little note in with little memories/moments from the day that would otherwise be forgotten.  My 2 1/2 year old daughter says some of the silliest things that I would surely forget if not for writing them down.  My 9 1/2 month son so silly and sweet and is always making these cute little gestures that I never want to forget.  It is SO AMAZING to have a jar of memories from the little moments that would have otherwise been lost and forgotten in the chaos of everyday life!  I am reminded of a quote that says that "it is the little things that make life big" and I find that to be absolutely true.  Precious, happy, silly, sweet, amazing memories!

YOU make the everyday magical.

This is a card that took on a life of it's own as I was making it.  It all started because I wanted to play with the awesome jar stamp in Unity's December KOM.  Oh but what to fill it with, what to fill it with...
The November 2009 KOM happened to be sitting on my table because it had recently arrived in the mail after a BIG sale over at Unity and I saw this fairy stamp which drew me to the kit and I noticed it looked like it would fit in the jar perfectly!  The sentiment from the same kit was my logical choice and so I colored the fairy with brush markers and stamped it onto white cardstock and then stamped the jar over the fairy and cut the jar out.  I used a sparkle gel pen to color over the stamped image and give it some extra magic.

I stamped the flower part of the stamp on kraft and layered the jar over it.  After I added the ribbon I thought the card was still missing something.  I left it to sit for a few days and then came back to peek at it tonight and in that time had another Unity order that had arrived and lo and behold the Nov 2011 SMAK kit was now sitting piled onto my table and when I saw the YOU I knew I wanted to add that to the card!  I put a little twine bow behind it and popped it up.  It is also stamped with brush markers and covered with some sparkle from a glitter gel pen.  What started out as just getting crafty turned out to be a perfect little card for my daughter!

Love is the thread

A quick card I threw together tonight using Unity's December 2011 Kit of the Month for their KOM sketch challenge.  I got a little liberal with the sketch this month but I love how the card turned out!
Here is the sketch:

The patterned papers are from Echo Park's For the Record and I used red embossing powder for the images and sentiment.  The label is a spellbinders die cut.  I distressed the edges of the PP as well.  Thanks for stopping by my blog!  Hope everyone's New Year is off to a fantastic start!
