Unity and distress inks, Oh, the places you will go!

I have 3 projects to share this week for Friends with Flair!!!  Fall is great because I have so much more time to craft and I've been busy at it cause I've missed it so much over the busy summer months.  It's nice to be able to ink up some of my neglected Unity stamps too.
The first project I want to share is a layout I finished last night.
Lots going on here.  I used some of the new Crate Paper Random collection and a little from their Emma's Shoppe collection as well.  The title is from Cosmo Cricket (chipboard courtesy of Unity, came as a surprise gift with a KOM earlier this year)!  I stamped a sentiment from the October KOM onto this cute little Crate Paper tag and it fit so perfectly and that's where the inspiration from the LO came, from a stamped tag.  I had this photo laying around in my To Scrap pile and thought the quote was perfect for this picture of my daughter "walking"with us when she was a year old.  I originally laid the design out on the pink woodgrain background but thought it just wasn't interesting enough so I handcut and doodled around the edges to give it some character and layered it over a bright bluejean colored Core'dinations cardstock.  I stamped the bicycle from Unity's Generations set 3 times below the photo as part of a border.

The next 2 projects are cards I made earlier this week when I was having some fun playing with my Tim Holtz distress inks and blending sponges.  This first card I wanted a Halloweeny, twilight look to use with the amazing Glowing Hours sentiment stamp so I used Dusty Concord, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey and Mustard Seed inks and then stamped Unity's Glowing Hours and tied some black floss and bats for the finishing touch.  I entered this card into Unity's Autumn Harvest Challenge.

The last project that I want to share today is a bookmark that I made.  I am constantly reading and wanted to make a bookmark to keep my place instead of the random scraps of paper that I usually use.  This sentiment from the recent The Time is Now kit from Unity was perfect for my special bookmark.  I also used stamps from October's KOM and the June 2011 KOM as well.  I handcut a tag and stamped the flowers 3 times with white acrylic paint then blended Worn Lipstick, Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint distress inks from Tim Holtz over the flowers.  I stamped the sentiment and then masked it to stamp the butterflies and stars.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, look below for some more Unity projects that I made earlier this week.  Wishing you all a wonderful Halloween Weekend!

All because 2 people fell in love...

This past weekend I went up north to my hometown for my very best friends family reunion.  That's right, my BFF's family reunion.  Growing up I was so close to her family and still am to this day.  We no longer see each other as often but thanks to Facebook we all still keep in touch and it was so wonderful to be included in such a special family moment and to be able to catch up with my friends parents, sisters and children and meet their newest additions too!  I wanted to send a special thanks to her parents for inviting me and my family and this is the card I made.  This little sentiment is one of my favorites and it seemed so appropriate for this card.
I love this stamp set from Unity.  It's called Generations and it's all about family.
I used brush markers on the doily stamp, added a pearl gem to the center and stamped the sentiment in black and viola, done!  It is amazing to look around a large room filled with family and realize that all of this was possible because once upon a time, two people fell in love...

We Bleed Green

Thanks to this super awesome football collage paper from Little Yellow Bicycle this layout was a cinch to put together!  I used some Unity stamps from the June 2011 KOM for the title and the football stamp is from Unity's Sports Squares.  I used a EK Success border punch on the picture border.  Crazy simple!  I am entering it into the monthly Unity Challenge "Autumn Harvest".

Bewitching

Ah, it's Friday...or I should say FINALLY Friday!  And that means it's time for another fun Friends With Flair from my favorite stamp company of all time, Unity Stamps!  Check out all of the great projects that Unity lovers have inked up this week!
I love this photo of my daughter around Halloween last year, what a little sweetie she was!  A good photo of her this Halloween will be nearly impossible to come by as she throws a tantrum when she sees the camera.  Oh, the Terrible Twos...they pass right!?!
It's been dark and dreary here for days so it was tough to get a good pic of the LO, there's a horrible glare shining off the photo.
Here are a few more detailed shots.
I stamped a lot on this layout.  The cobweb is from Tattered Angels, the spiders are Martha Stewart.  Beware of witching hour and Under your Spell are from Unity Stamp Co.  The witch is from Inkadinkado.  I stamped her on transparency because I wanted her facing left instead of right.  The embellies are old Jolee's and new Authentique.  The title was cut with the Cricut Happy Hauntings cart and layered on orange silk ribbon.  The patterned papers are from Authentique and Echo Park.
Happy Friday and wishing you all a fantastic weekend!

Another Friday, another FWF!!!

Happy Friday and Friends with Flair to you all! What a beautiful fall we've been having so far, I've been lucky enough to be able to get the kids outside to play at the pumpkin patch, cider mill and petting farm over and over and over again!  My 2 year old daughters favorite part about fall so far is the corn box at the farm we go to.  It's like a giant sand box but with dried corn kernels instead, she LOVES it!!!  Note to self: scrap some of those pics soon while the memories are fresh!

The first card I want to share with you today is actually my first ever attempt at a sympathy card.  I've always been to intimidated to try one and when I needed one I'd just get a store bought one (hangs head in shame).  I was actually pleased with how this came out and it also came together super quick.  Love the Kit of the Months because there are always new stamps and new inspirations to play with!
The patterned paper is grey on grey with little roses by My Mind's Eye.  I inked the edges with some Tim Holtz distress ink.  The butterfly stamp is from Unity's Live What You Love kit.  The sentiment is from Unity's July 2011 KOM.  I pulled out my paintbrush and colored the butterflies with some acryllic paint.  Ribbon and a flower from Prima to finish it off.

The next card I want to share with you is a fall card that I made for Unity's monthly challenge Falling Leaves.  Nothing like getting it in on the last day!  I had a tough time with this one.  I originally had a totally different idea in my head for how this card was going to look but when I finished inking the leaves I hated it.  Thankfully I didn't give up and was able to salvage it by cutting some of it away completely and cutting the rest into thirds and mounting it on cardstock and then onto some pp by My Mind's Eye.  The leaves are also stamped onto a light grid paper by My Mind's Eye.  The leaf stamp and sentiment are both from Unity's September 2011 KOM.  Finished off with some twine tied in a bow.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and I wish you all a wonderful fall weekend, time to go out and enjoy some cider and donuts!!!

Friends with Flair

Ive been missing Friends with Flair so badly since my computer has been sadly broken for over a month now.  Quick access this morning to a laptop and first thing I do is upload a pic of a card I recently made and am pretty ecstatic to be able to share on my blog and with my Unity peeps!
I threw this card together quickly for a friend going through a rough time.  I used the Unity KOM sketch for inspiration.  Thanks for stopping by, gotta keep it short today since my computer time is running out!  Happy friday all and have a wonderful weekend!
Stamps are from the August 2011 KOM.
