Merci

Finally found some time to blog some of the creations I've been working on, hooray!  For this card I used Unity's December 2012 Kit of the Month.  I wanted to play around with my Tim Holtz distress markers and watercolor so I stamped with Memento ink onto watercolor paper.  Mistake.  Even though I waited for the ink to dry before coloring it still bled.  It actually looked really horrible until I decided to just spritz the whole thing with clear glimmer mist and then soak up the excess ink.  You can still tell that it bled but it's not as bad and it has a beautiful shimmer to it now.  :)  The papers are from Crate Paper's On Trend collection.  I wanted to leave it sentiment free but it just didn't look finished to me that way so I finally added a miniaturized version of a banner from the stamp kit and the Merci stamp.  I'm always short on Thank You cards anyways!

If anyone has any tips on using T.H. distress markers with watercolor I sure would appreciate it!  Next time I think I'll try it using Staz-On ink and see if I have better results.

Beautiful and what a great save...love it!!! Tim Holtz had a new video on his blog about his markers...I watched it and it helped me alot as I was sure making a mess of them....it was mostly about what papers to use ..it was helpful, but I need to watch it again as I can't remember anything...LOL!!

Hi Crystal! I think your card turned out beautiful!
If you are using the Tim Holtz markers for watercoloring, the best ink to use for the image is usually Arichival ink by Ranger, that is usually what Tim uses on his videos. Stazon is good as well, but I know that you cant use stazon with copic markers so I am not sure about Tim's markers whether it is hard on the tips or not. The stazon won't bleed though and I do use that if I am using sprays or using a brush to apply the color. as Diane mentioned above he does have a video where he talks about using them and it is helpful and I bet on utube you can find other stamp stores who are doing tutorials, I would bet that Ranger has some videos as well!
Well sorry for the long post!
I wanted to Thank you as well for stopping by my blog yesterday and leaving such a sweet comment! It means so very much!
Hope you are having a great weekend! Mary

Hi Crystal! Your card is beautiful!! Love the layout, the stamping and the colours.
If you are using waterbased inks for colouring, you can stamp with Stazon or Versafine. Memento will bleed a bit. Happy Weekend!

Wonderful blog! I found it while searching on Yahoo News.

Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo News?
I've been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Cheers
